~ Beautiful Mama-to-Be :: Alexandria Maternity Photography ~

“Friends are the Family we choose for Ourselves”

I absolutely adore the quote above…it is so true. I am blessed to have a group of girlfriends that I consider FAMILY. One of the things that my mother has told me more then once in my adult years is that I am lucky to have such an everlasting group of friends and that many friendships do not endure the years as our “crew’s”  has. Most of us have been friends since our freshman year at South Lakes High School. Some of us actually go back to elementary school and some have joined our “crew” along the way. Each of one of my girls is special to me. As we get older and have families ourselves, it has become less frequent that we all get to see each other. But I do know in times of need or in times of celebration, that my girls, my family will always be there and I will always be there for them. Which brings me to the point of my post. Alexia is one of my BFFs! When I found out she was expecting I was sooo happy for her and when she asked me if I would shoot her maternity pictures I felt so privileged to be able to capture this special time for her. Alexia – you are a gorgeous mama-to-be and I can’t wait to meet your little man!

~Adorable Dev~ Baby Photographer Arlington, Virginia

How absolutely adorable is this little one??? His big eyes and smile just melted my heart. It obviously runs in the family…check out his cute older brother, Shaan!  We had originally scheduled a newborn session for Dev but ended having to reschedule so I had the pleasure of finally meeting this sweet family yesterday. I had so much fun… Mom & Dad – I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Precious Baby Isla – Northern Virginia Newborn Photography

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful family and their gorgeous new baby girl…Isla. (Can I just say that I LOVE that name?). It was a great morning with the family and just what I needed. I could tell that big sister Sophia was very proud of her baby sister and very excited to help out. Sophia is also was a ball full of energy…Isla will have much to keep up with!! Isla wanted to hang with us for awhile but eventually gave us some great sleepy shots…I think the truth was is that she just wanted Mommy holding her :o ) Congratulations Mom & Dad on your beautiful little one. I hope you like the sneak peek!

Beautiful Big Sis!

This little cutie…Tad ~ Shirlington, VA Newborn Photography

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting this little cutie. It was a pleasure to spend the morning with Mom & Dad and Auntie! Little Tad was just perfect…. he gave us a little bit of a hard time going to sleep, but I think he just didn’t want to miss out on anything! One thing is for sure…Mom and Dad are truly blessed this Thanksgiving. I bet they couldnt ask for anything more then to snuggle with their perfect son! Congrats and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

One of my absolute favorites! Love how he is looking up at Mom & Dad…these are the moments to cherish!

Here are their first born babies!

Pannell Family ~ Northern Virginia Childrens Photographer

Ahhh time for shoot with one of my favorite families! As you can see little Ayda and Olivia are beautiful (and full of personality!). I was so excited to see them and see how much they had grown since seeing them last…..which was at Olivia’s newborn session. This time we met in Old Town Alexandria on beautiful but slightly chilly day. Ayda is at the rambunctious 5 year old stage (know that well) and Olivia at that curious 2 year old stage (totally obsessed with pine cones during the shoot!). But they totally hung in there with us. Jess & Al – hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Tara & Brad ~ Married!

Tara and Brad were married a couple of weeks ago on a gorgeous day in Taneytown, Maryland. The ceremony and reception took place at The Antrium which is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast and made a gorgeous backdrop for their day. They were surrounded by family and friends and you could tell that these two were truly happy that this day had come. I don’t think I saw Brad stop smiling once the whole day!

Check out Tara’s hot shoes! The red shoes went perfectly with the rest of wedding details. After the first dance at the reception, Tara changed out of her beautiful wedding gown into a traditional Japanese dress for the rest of the evening. Red and gold Chinese lanterns lined the wedding aisle and adorned the hall that the reception was held in. Chopsticks were given to the guests as gifts. It was just beautiful!

Thank you to Dorie for second shooting with me!

Adorable Little “J” ~ Alexandria Child Photographer

I was so happy to finally meet Baby J. This family definitely wins the award for most patient family and the most rescheduled sessions ever for Sugar Rush Photography. This was through no fault of our own…simply mother nature and her crazy ways. Whether it was 100 plus degree heat, Hurricane Irene, massive rain and flooding or just freezing cold tempratures…this session was canceled and rescheduled 4 times. Well finally last week the weather decided to cooperate and we met up on a beautiful day in Old Town Alexandria. Baby J was the perfect model and is just too adorable for words. Mom and Dad – I had so much fun! Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Tina & Joe ~ Married!

Tina contacted me the month prior to her wedding to inquire if I would be available to shoot her Joe’s special day. She proceeded to lay out her plans and visions for the day and also what she was looking for from a photography perspective. In hearing of her ceremony timed at 6 oclock in the evening so that there would be sun shining perfectly through the trees onto outdoor ceremony, her peacock feather theme, the way she wanted to get married surrounded by friends and family so that she would arrange the chairs in a circle around her and Joe…it sounded like a dream come true for me to shoot. I soon after met with Tina and Joe and Tina’s mothers house where the wedding day would take place. I had a ball that day and instantly knew this was a great couple and it would be a wonderful day no matter what. Now if you remember 2 weeks ago we had record rainfall the entire week. I kept checking the weather all week long to see if Saturdays forecast showed any sign of sun. By Thursday I received a call from Tina saying they were onto plan B. The huge tent they were planning to set up in the backyard for the reception would have to be moved to driveway due to totally saturated grounds. No problem….

Saturday morning came and I received a call from Tina. As calm as could be she said “I just wanted to give you a call to give you an update, we are no longer on plan B, we are now on to about plan D or E”.  Her Mother’s yard where the ceremony and reception were to take place was massively flooded from the rain storms during the week. So bad that her basement was 8 feet under water. They had lost power and water service. Thank goodness the power company was able to get power back Friday night but there was still no running water. The ceremony and reception would all have to take place under the tent in the driveway. I felt so bad for her because I know she had put so much thought and planning into her and Joe’s special day. But the one thing that stood out was how remarkably calm and unnerved she sounded. She told me “oh well we just have to go with the flow”. That says sooo much to me about Tina’s character and Joe is lucky to have found such a strong remarkable woman!

The stories I heard that day about how their friends had spent the day and night before tossing sandbags in an effort to save their day just warmed my heart. This wedding turned about to be one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever shot. No doubt to the love between Tina and Joe and their family and friends. Congratulations you two! It was a pleasure to capture your special day!

Adele & Jon ~ Married!

Last month I had the pleasure of second shooting Jon & Adele’s wedding day with my good friend Erin. Jon & Adele’s wedding was a beautiful day surrounded by many family and friends. You could feel the love through and through! Hope you enjoy these shots from that day!

Family Fun! ~ Ashburn, VA Children’s Photographer

First off….note….BAD BLOGGER. I have seriously fallen down on my blogging and I am about to play catch up!

A couple of weeks ago I met up with this awesome family. They have grown in size since the last time you saw them with their adorable little girl…they have added baby brother to the mix! You might remember this little beauty from her shoot here. Well check this family out now!
