Sugar Rush Photography bio picture
  • WELCOME!

Thank you for stopping by the Sugar Rush Blog!

I am inspired by beautiful color, textures, gorgeous light, dramatic black and white images – but most of all my clients…*REAL FAMILIES* *REAL MOMENTS* *REAL CONNECTIONS*….that is what I strive to document in my work. I love to capture soon-to-be moms glowing with anticipation of welcoming their new little one, a brand new baby in their first days of life, the connection between parents and their children and moments such as the the nervous excitement of your wedding day. I am honored to share in these moments with you.

Like most of my photographer friends, I do not sleep. Just kidding... But I do work late into the night editing, editing, editing … but I am a mother FIRST before anything else and am so thankful for that title! I am known as Mommy, Mama, or Mom to my 3 wonderful monsters…eehhh I mean kiddos.

I love all things sparkly (and pink)! I will often show up to your session with a Starbucks in hand. Cinnamon Dolce Lattes make me happy! I love flip flops and can’t wait for the summer to arrive so don’t be surprised to see me trying to break them out a little early.

I love my job! I feel so blessed every time a client trusts me to capture their memories. Believe me…this is not a job I take lightly and I hope that shines through in my work! Feel free to browse and I hope you will drop me a line.

    xoxo ….Beth

Cute little Kate! ~ Alexandria, VA Newborn Photographer

Two weekends ago I had the pleasure of meeting a little princess….her name was Kate! She was such a sweet little peanut and I truly enjoyed getting to know Mom & Dad (one of the best parts of my job is getting to know new families).  Trooper the dog even got in on the action! Thank you Mom & Dad for welcoming me into your home and thank you for being so patient waiting on  your sneak peek!

Grayson & Jackson ~ Reston Newborn Photographer

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing these two adorable angels.  Grayson and Jackson were born prematurely 4 months ago but just recently were able to come home from the hospital. I tell you after talking to Mom & Dad I learned that these two little ones are fighters. I know that they say twins share a special bond and I know that will definitely be true of these two!  Mom and Dad – I enjoyed getting to know you both and I hope you know how much I adored your teamwork in caring for your precious little ones. I feel so honored that you asked me to capture this special time! I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

Welcome to this World Nathan! ~ Arlington Newborn Photographer

This past weekend I had the privilege of capturing baby Nathan just a couple of days after he arrived home from the hospital. I could not wait to meet him and apparently he could not wait to meet his loving family….he decided to make his appearance a couple of weeks early!  I first met Mom & Dad almost 3 years ago when I shot their maternity session and then newborn session for their first born, David. When Kristin contacted me to let me know she was expecting again, I was so excited for them! I love getting to know my clients at shoots but even more I love following them as their family grows. The fact that Kristin and Al again asked me to capture this special time in their lives means the world to me. I loved getting to catch up with you both! David is a handsome little two year old full of energy and little Nathan is absolutely adorable!

Oh and check out some of Nathan’s adorable nursery below. The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of my all time favorite books. When I walked in the and saw his nursery, I was over the moon! Mom and Dad I hope you enjoy this sneak peek. The rest is soon to follow!

Cute Little Colton – Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer

This was a much anticipated session for me… I feel like I have shared in so many special moments in this family’s journey. I came to know Mom & Dad when I shot their engagement and wedding. To say it is an honor that Tara & Brad selected me to capture the next step in their journey as a family is an understatement! I cant say it enough…I love my job!

Sooooo…DRUMROLL PLEASE….. Check out sweet baby COLTON! He is absolutely perfect!

I love the shots of him in the crib. It was the first time Mom played the Cat in the Hat Crib Mobile for him….I think he is a fan!

Its Cheer Tyme!

One of my goals this year is to include more of my personal life on my blog.  My kids have grown up with a camera in their face and have what I call “photographers child syndrome”. They came to hate having a camera in their face and I actually gave them a break from the camera (other then my camera phone). But in doing so, I realized that I am missing out on capturing my own family’s memories. And capturing my own kids is what actually peaked my interest in the photography business.  I have made a resolution to make sure I carry my big bad camera more this year. The kiddos will just have to suck it up and I know they will thank me one day:o)

My family’s spring break started out with a very busy but fun weekend!  This past weekend my oldest daughter Shy’an had a 2-day cheerleading competition in Baltimore, Maryland. This is her first year doing All-star cheer and what a great experience it has been. She cheers for Cheer Tyme in Chantilly, Virginia. I can not say enough good things about the Cheer Tyme Chantilly Family. Cheer Tyme opened this year (although they have 15 years of experience with 2 other locations in Pennsylvania). When we first started I had no idea what to expect. Let me tell any parents that are thinking about putting their kids in All-star cheer that is is very involved and takes a lot of dedication on both your kids and your part, but it is oh so worth it. Shy absolutely loves it. The gym is doing fantastic for their first year and has two teams going to Worlds and three other teams going to the Summit! Shy’s team is a prep team (half year) as we started late to the game and she missed trying out for a full year team. Her team is made up of girls with varying levels of experience and I am so proud of all the hard work and dedication that they have put in over the season.

This competition was called Return to Atlantis and it was truly an outstanding competition. Shy’s team ended up winning their division. They were trailing by a point after day one but pulled out a great routine on day 2 and ended up winning! National Champions baby!!! The girls were so excited as you can see by the shot of their National Champion Backpacks they won:o)

I know…big cheer bows are a bit much, but I actually have grown to love them.

Shy has awesome coaches…Coach Michelle, Coach Jessica and Coach Jeff – thank you so much for all of your hard work with the girls!

Lunch with Auntie down at the Inner Harbor was a highlight!

Team Embrace – Get is girls!

National Champs – Hearts Up!
